Song Definitions

You can open "Song Definitions" window by clicking the <Definitions>/<Songs...> from the main menu or by clicking the button from the toolbar.

 

You can add audio files to database or you can edit or delete the existing songs in database by using the grid (see Grid Usage for details).

 

Columns of the grid are explained below.

 

 

Id:

Identification number. (It is given automatically. You can edit this number only when you are adding a new record).

 

Audio:

Field where the audio file is entered. You can select one or more audio files by clicking the button. After saving the song(s) to database, you don't need those audio files. You can delete them from your computer if you want. Because you can have them by exporting from Solea whenever you want.

 

Song Name:

Name of the song

 

Artist:

Artist/Group performing the song. You can select a predefined artist from the PopupComboBox. You can manage predefined artists by using Definitions.

 

Genre:

Genre of the song. You can select a predefined genre from the LookupComboBox. You can manage predefined genres by using Definitions.

 

Subgenre:

Subgenre of the song. You can select a predefined subgenre from the LookupComboBox. You can manage predefined subgenres by using Definitions.

 

Tempo:

Starting and finishing tempos of the song (it is a LookupComboBox)

 

Duration:

 

Total duration of the song. It is calculated automatically and cannot be edited.

Language:

Language of the song. You can select a predefined language from the LookupComboBox. You can manage predefined languages by using Definitions.

 

Album:

Album of the song. You can select a predefined album from the PopupComboBox. You can manage predefined albums by using Definitions.

 

Tr#:

Album Track Number. It is produced automatically when the audio file is a CD Track (CDA).

 

Year:

Year when the song performed. It may be older than the publication year of the album. If it is leaved empty, it takes the year value of the album automatically.

 

Month:

Month when the song performed. It may be older than the publication month of the album. If it is leaved empty, it takes the month value of the album automatically.

 

Amp.:

Amplify Rate which will be applied during broadcast.  You can see Calculating Parameters page for detailed information.

 

Day Part:

 

It is an information considered during automatic song selection. You can indicate that the song can be selected in which day and times. For more information see Day Parts page.

 

Composer:

Composer of the song. You can select a predefined composer from the PopupComboBox. You can manage predefined composers by using Definitions.

 

Lyricist:

Lyricist (Song-writer) of the song. You can select a predefined lyricists from the PopupComboBox. You can manage predefined lyricists by using Definitions.

 

BPM:

Beats Per Minute. It is calculated automatically and can be edited manually. You can calculate the BMP manually by using the <BMP> button on Test Player.

 

Intro:

Intro duration of the song in seconds. It represent the position when the lyrics of the song starts.

 

JFT:

Jingle Finish Time of the song in seconds. Some slogans are defined as "Play Over Song" in their "Slogan Type". These type of slogans are played over the next song in Play List or in On-Air List. Slogan Start Position (The time when the slogan starts to play) depends of the JFT value of the next song. This position is calculated by subtracting the duration of the slogan from the JFT value of the next song.

 

By default, JFT is assigned as equal to Intro. If you leave JFT equal to intro, the slogan used above the song will finish as before as the lyrics starts. This is usually a desired behaviour.

 

Outro:

 

Not implemented.

Trims and Mixes:

FadeIn:

Fade-In duration of the song in seconds. The song volume will be initially zero and will reach  the normal volume slightly in a period entered as Fade-In duration.

 

FadeOut:

It is a flag indicating whether a Fade-Out will be applied during mixing or not. If it is checked, the volume of the song will slightly be decreased (Fade-Out) at the end.

 

Category:

It is an information which can be used for Song Scheduling.

Those are extra fields. You can define and use 3 extra fields for special purposes (e.g. Source, Region, Subject etc.). For more information you can see Definitions page.

 

Notes:

Various notes about the song (dedicated to, its story etc.).

 

Lyrics:

Lyrics of the songs.

 

Expire Date:

It is date when the song is valid until. When it is clear, it means that the song will never expire. Expired songs cannot be used by unauthorized users (see Permissions). These type of songs are displayed as strikeout in the lists. If you don't want to see expired songs you can unceck the related option in Settings. You can simply use Popup Menu or CTRL + E keys for reverting expire status of the songs in the lists.

 

Fmt:

Format of the song's  audio data

 

Bitrate:

Compression rate of the song's audio data (kbps = kbit/sec)

 

Nrm:

Normalized (It represents whether the volume level of the song's audio data is normal or not).

 

Grade:

Rating of the song in point of pleasure or artistic valuation. It is a relative information. In order to make this column visible in the grid you can use Customize... button.

 

Tone:

Musical tone of the song ("A maj" for La major, "E min" for Mi minor etc.).  In order to make this column visible in the grid you can use Customize... button.
